Introducing multi-currency! Now, your fans can pay in their local currency
We’re excited to announce that multi-currency is coming to Fourthwall! Many of you asked for your fans to see pricing and buy using their local currency, and now they can!
Allowing fans to buy in their local currency increases your conversion rate and improves the shopping experience for your international fans. You’ll make the same profit per order, regardless of what currency is used for purchase.
How does it work?
You can read more in our multi-currency help article, but here’s the summary of how it works:
- Your fans will be able to see product pricing on your store in their local currency automatically. If they prefer, they can always toggle between currencies.
- Your profit will still be shown in USD.
- Exchange rates are automatically calculated to ensure you receive the same profit regardless of currency. Fourthwall takes the currency conversion rate risk.
- Any refunds will be issued in the buyer’s original purchase currency
What’s changing?
As part of this release, we’re introducing a few changes:
- Your fans will be able to see product prices on your shop in up to 10 preferred currencies (vs. USD)
- We are updating our Terms of Service (TOS) effective today to reflect this new multi-currency feature. You can review the updated TOS here. If you continue using our services, you agree to the updated TOS.
- On November 1st, 2023, we’ll be adding a 1% fee to the payment processing fee for non-USA credit cards. This change is due to the higher rates our credit card processors charge us for cross-border payments and is the same fee that Shopify, Patreon, etc., charge for cross-border payments. This fee will only take effect on November 1st. Read more in our announcement blog post.
What’s staying the same?
Additionally, a few key things are staying the same:
- For now, membership payments are only available in USD. We plan to offer multi-currency here in the future
- Your dashboard will still be presented in USD
- All payouts will still be in USD
